ADVISORY: Monitoring Transportation Demonstrations in Mexico

ProTrans is closely monitoring transportation demonstrations occurring across Mexico today, October 26. Activity remains widespread, with concentrations reported across Central Mexico, Nuevo León, Tamaulipas, Jalisco, Aguascalientes, Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla, Yucatán, Zacatecas, Sinaloa, Sonora, Chihuahua and Baja California. At this time, impacts remain localized, but are expected to continue through this evening.

The Mexican government continues to engage with transportation industry representatives. Earlier today, SEGOB met with CONCAMIN, CANAPAT, ANTP and CONATRAM representatives. Those organizations expressed support for continued dialogue and stated they do not support the broader CANACAR-led stoppage.

Current Roadway Impacts

Most impacts remain localized, with congestion and partial lane restrictions affecting specific corridors, including:

  • Oaxaca: Restrictions in both directions at the Tehuacán-Oaxaca Toll Plaza, with one lane available in each direction near Km 39+650 on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca Highway.

  • Veracruz: Closures reported on portions of the Nuevo Teapa-Cosoleacaque and Acayucan-Cosoleacaque highways, along with restrictions on the Cd. Alemán-Tuxtepec corridor.

  • Durango: A full closure has been reported on the Torreón-Jiménez Highway near Km 8.

  • Tamaulipas: A partial closure is reported on the Cd. Mante-Cd. Valles Highway, with transporter concentrations on the Monterrey-Nuevo Laredo and Reynosa-Río Bravo corridors and convoy-related slowdowns along the Altamira Port corridor.

  • Puebla: Partial restrictions are reported near the Esperanza Toll Plaza on the Puebla-Orizaba Highway. The Mexico-Puebla and Puebla-Córdoba corridors remain operational, although localized delays and congestion are possible.

  • Aguascalientes: One lane is closed in each direction on Highway 45 South near Puerta de Seguridad.

  • State of Mexico: Transporter presence and traffic impacts are reported near the Atlacomulco Toll Plaza on the Toluca-Atlacomulco Highway.

  • Nuevo León: Transporter concentrations are active in Escobedo along the Highway to Laredo and demonstration activity continues in Santa Catarina.

  • Northern corridors: Transporter activity is reported along the Monterrey-Monclova, Zacatecas-Durango and Chihuahua-Miguel Ahumada highways. Traffic continues to flow at the reported Chihuahua location.

  • Sinaloa: Transporter activity is affecting the Mazatlán-Culiacán and Los Mochis-Sinaloa highways, with no confirmed full closures reported at these locations.

Potential Impact

At this time, transportation delays are expected primarily across portions of the Oaxaca, Veracruz, Puebla, Tamaulipas, Durango and Mexico City corridors. Customers should be prepared for localized pickup and delivery delays, congestion, less predictable transit times and short-notice scheduling adjustments. No widespread disruption to major operational corridors has been reported at this time.

What We Can Prepare for Now

We encourage customers and suppliers to:

  • Identify production-critical shipments and freight with narrow delivery windows.

  • Allow additional flexibility around pickup and delivery appointments where possible.

  • Keep shipping, receiving and supplier contacts available for quick coordination.

  • Be prepared for short-notice routing or scheduling adjustments if a verified disruption affects a planned movement.

  • Alert your ProTrans contact to immediate production risks or priority shipments.
