ADVISORY: Tropical Storm Isaias Could Impact Gulf Coast Networks This Weekend
ProTrans is closely monitoring Tropical Storm Isaias, which formed in the Gulf of Mexico today and is forecast to strengthen into the first hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic season. It is expected to approach the northern Gulf Coast late Friday into Saturday, with the highest risk areas extending from Louisiana eastward toward the Florida Panhandle.
The National Hurricane Center issued Hurricane Watches for portions of the northern Gulf Coast and Storm Surge Watches for vulnerable coastal areas.
Potential Supply Chain Impacts
If forecasts hold, transportation operations across the Gulf Coast could experience disruptions beginning Friday and continuing into early next week. If you have freight moving in the affected area, expect longer transit times, with the potential for increased congestion, flooding, road closures, power outages, and more.
While major Texas border crossings are not expected to be directly impacted, manufacturers with U.S.-Mexico supply chains should anticipate potential downstream effects, including equipment imbalances, routing adjustments, and delays involving suppliers or facilities along the Gulf Coast and in the Southeast United States.
Looking at the Weekend
Manufacturers and shippers should review critical shipments planned for Friday through early next week, communicate forecasted transportation needs with your account manager, and consider contingency plans for any time-sensitive freight.
ProTrans operations teams will continue monitoring the storm and provide updates as conditions develop. Should issues arise, we will work with you to identify alternative routing options, adjust transportation plans where appropriate, and communicate potential disruptions as quickly as possible. If you have any specific questions or concerns, please reach out to your account management representative.
